Island
Just managed a quick sketch of our kitchen island on the iPad before falling fast asleep.
Mistletoe.
Yes! Mistletoe still hanging around. I have it hanging from a thin wire on a collage art piece made with paper from an oversized calendar.
Arugula.
I have to call it rúgula, which is what it’s called in Spanish. I hear my mom’s voice in my head with her cute Colombian accent at the sight of it.
Metal Strainer
Why, oh why, are there so many ovals in my kitchen?! Arggg!
Paella Pan
I’ve always had an affinity for a paella pan. No idea why. Possibly my several-generations-back Spanish ancestry…? This one is a no-frills (well the red handles are something) get-the-job-done paella pan.
Cheese Danish
This pastry is one tough cookie for me to render in watercolor. But it was easy to wash down with a cup of coffee.
Fondue Forks
It’s getting close to that time of year…!
Mandarin Oranges
The pint is porcelain and so pretty. I kept it to pencil in the illustration, as the simplicity of the pencil marks are true to the feel of the container.
